Getting to St Mary’s

We’re on Upper Street. Ten minutes walk north of Angel Station (Northern Line) and fifteen minutes walk south of Highbury & Islington Station (Victoria, Overground and National Rail lines).

There is a bus stops right outside our door on Upper Street. It is served by routes 4, 19, 30 and 43.
Bus stops on Essex Road are five minutes walk from St Mary’s and are served by routes 38, 56, 73, 341 and 476.

Parking at St Mary's is very limited and by permit only. The site is patrolled and you will incur a parking charge if you park without a valid permit.
If you have limited mobility and would like to request a parking permit please contact us.

Family history enquiries
All Church of England churches hold registers that are wonderful sources of information for people researching their family tree. We regularly receive enquiries from people researching their genealogy.
However, we only hold the most recent information:
For baptisms at St Mary's Church - from August 1928
For marriages at St Mary's Church - from September 1977
For worship services at St Mary's Church - from approximately 1996
For burials of cremated remains - from 2011

The churchyard at St Mary's was closed for burials in the nineteenth century and a new cemetery opened for Islington at East Finchley. John Nelson’s History of Islington (1811) lists the monuments for burials in the churchyard of St Mary, beginning on page 328. Follow the link to view the book in Google eBooks.
