St Mary’s Preschool Retains ‘Good’ at Ofsted Inspection

St Mary’s Preschool has retained it’s ‘Good’ status in all areas following its most recent Ofsted inspection on 19 September 2025. The preschool, which has 27 children aged two to four on its roll, was last rated ‘Good’ in 2017.

Ofsted noted that, at St Mary’s Preschool, children

  • “flourish in this caring and supportive setting”

  • “are happy, confident and feel safe”

  • “make good progress in their learning” It was also good to have Ofsted recognise our wonderful staff team, to highlight the effective safeguarding arrangements, and to note the strong systems and vision of our leadership.”

The report highlighted all the impactful things the staff do to improve outcomes for all children. While not all areas are yet outstanding, there are clear elements of outstanding practice, especially in behaviour, leadership, safeguarding, and parental partnership.

Sharon Ellis, Childcare Services Manager at St Mary’s, said: “We are all delighted and encouraged by the report, and we remain committed to continuously improving our preschool to meet the needs of all children and their families.”

St Mary’s Preschool operates term time, Monday to Friday from 9am to 4.30pm and in the holidays offers a playscheme, Monday to Friday, from 8.30am to 5.30pm, except on bank holidays.
