St Mary's Weekly Eco Tip: Use Eco-Cleaning Products
Many common cleaning products contain detergents, preservatives, or foaming agents made from various toxic chemicals that wash into streams and rivers, causing water pollution that enters ecosystems and damages biodiversity. Sewage treatment works can only remove a few from wastewater. Switching to products that contain sustainably grown or raised ingredients and non-synthetics reduces the risk of exposure to toxic chemicals harmful to humans and the environment. Cleaners can be made by mixing vinegar, lemon juice and bicarbonate of soda. This sustainable and cheaper alternative reduces toxic chemical use and packaging waste.
