St Mary's Weekly Eco Tip: The food you eat

In Harvest-tide it is rare to see meat on the Harvest Festival altar. In ancient Rome, legumes were so important that principal families were named after them: eg. Fabius (faba bean) and Cicero (chick pea). There is nothing new or unusual about being vegetarian (or part-veggie). Cutting down on meat is good for one’s health and for the environment, reducing greenhouse gas release. One way to start is to make every Monday a Meat-free Monday.
