Facing a dead-end

The outlook for Abram was bleak. He'd trusted himself to God and lived as faithfully as he could for decades. Now, in old age, he was asking what his legacy would be. Would anything survive? Without an heir, would he soon be forgotten?

Jesus looked on Jerusalem with resolve. His friends urged him to run away. "King Herod wants you dead!" They were in a panic. To continue into Jerusalem would be to walk into a trap, to head towards a dead-end.
