Our most popular service of the year. Each person is given a candle and at 6pm the church falls into darkness, except for hundreds of tiny flames around the church. Slowly, the congregation's four hundred candles are lit and our classical choir leads us in celebration of the Christmas story through Bible readings and song.
Choir conductor: Jakub Tomasek
Organist: Robert Patterson
This year's congregational carols are: O come, all ye faithful; Once in royal David's city; On Christmas night all Christians sing; Ding Dong! Merrily on high; Silent night; Hark the herald angels sing.
The choir programme is: Jesus Christ the apple tree; Huron carol; Coventry carol; Cantate Domino (Pitoni); There is no rose.
Please come early as the church is usually very full, with some of the congregation standing. This service isn't the most suitable for young children either. Why not bring them to the Big Family Carols service instead?
