This Sunday at 11am, we’ll be continuing our thanksgiving series, by thanking God for the families that we’re placed in. We’ll also be giving particular thanks for the men and women we know who have taken the courageous step of fostering or adopting children. All who are involved in this personally – or through their work – are invited to attend the service as guests of honour.
Throughout the Bible, God shows great concern for those who are vulnerable, so much so, that one letter in the New Testament states this: “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows” (James 1:27).
Adoption and fostering are ways of reflecting God’s unconditional love and hospitality towards humanity. They also mirror the way in which we have been invited to join a family that transcends our DNA and spans every nationality and culture: the Church.
