Baptism for your child

Bringing your children for baptism is a wonderful thing to do.

Baptism (or christening) is a step on the Christian journey. For children who are too young to declare their own faith, parents and godparents make declarations of faith and a commitment to bring up their child to join the church. For those who prefer to wait, we offer prayers of dedication, thanksgiving and blessing instead.

It's our responsibility to prepare people for baptism and this normally means a three-session course for parents (and godparents too, if they can make it). All baptisms take place in the main eleven o'clock service in church. If you don't live in our parish, or don't worship with us regularly, then please contact your local Church of England parish, who'll be glad to arrange a service.
