Getting ready for the Games

Islington is getting ready for the Olympic Games with a whole host of events, particularly on Thursday 26 July when the  torch will be passing through our streets. If you're able to get out of bed in time, please do join in the celebrations, either at the Town Hall or by cheering on the torch from outside St Mary's. Actor, comedian and writer David Walliams is due to carry the torch past St Mary's at about 8.25am. Later in the day, there is plenty of free sports fun for all ages at Highbury Fields.

On a more serious note, from 26 to 29 July, St Mary's will be hosting a GIFT box outside the church, in association with STOP THE TRAFFIK and the United Nations Global Initiative to Fight Human Trafficking (UN.GIFT). GIFT boxes are walk-in pieces of public art that highlight the global scourge of people trafficking and are being placed all over London during the Olympic Games. Do come along and discover more from the volunteers who will be stationed with us or go to for further information.
