In a recent Ofsted report, now online, inspectors found that "improvements in all aspects of the school have been rapid this year." This is really good news and reflects the tremendous efforts of the whole school community. St Mary's School is very confident about building on this achievement. We are very grateful to acting headteacher Martha Braithwaite, whose work has secured a great year for St Mary's and we look forward very much to welcoming new headteacher Genevieve Prayag to lead the school forward in the autumn.
The inspectors found the overall assessment of the school as satisfactory with many good aspects, such as the early years provision. The growing popularity of St Mary's means that the Reception Class will be full next year. Pupils were praised for their good behaviour and the inspectors noted that children feel safe at St Mary's.
As the rapid progress of the school continues, the report looked forward to seeing more improvements in English and Maths. So it's really rewarding that the SATS results for Year 6 children, published days after the inspection, showed some of the best progress in the Borough.
