We're delighted that the Bishop of York has appointed The Revd Gloria Naylor as Vicar of Sutton St James in the Bransholme, Sutton Park, Sutton and Wawne Ministry, in Hull, Yorkshire.
Simon Harvey said, "We will all miss Gloria enormously for her contribution to the ministry of our parish and the life of our church. Three years have flown by quickly and I know that Gloria will bring huge gifts to her new parish. As their new vicar she combines energy and a very caring pastoral heart. We pray to God with thankfulness for Gloria, and his blessing for her and for the parish that she will serve."
Gloria said, "I will be sad to leave St Mary’s. I want to thank Simon, the PCC and the whole congregation as well as our sister charity Mary’s for the wonderful opportunities I have experienced. I am also appreciative of all the care, support and guidance I have received. St Mary’s is wonderful place to be a curate, I love the wonderful mix of people and I feel well prepared for my future ministry.
"I am excited about moving on from curacy and becoming an incumbent. I am passionate about supporting and encouraging mission, community engagement and sharing the love of God. I am looking forward to living, serving and ministering in Hull and feel strongly that I am called to be there. Yorkshire is where I was born and where I grew up. I am enthusiastic about the prospect of working closely with the community, and together sharing the love of God with our neighbours. I am delighted that I will be the next Vicar of St James, Sutton-on-Hull."
Gloria's last service at St Mary's will be at 11am on Sunday, 4 September 2016. Her service of collation by the Bishop of Hull will take place at 4pm on Saturday, 8 October 2016.
