We are delighted to celebrate the 90th birthday of Her Majesty The Queen.
In many decades of service to the nation and Commonwealth, she has witnessed to the sustaining power of God in her life and declared herself accountable to his higher authority. More recently, she has spoken very openly about her Christian faith.
In 2011, The Queen said, 'Although we are capable of great acts of kindness, history teaches us that we sometimes need saving from ourselves – from our recklessness or our greed. God sent into the world a unique person – neither a philosopher nor a general (important though they are) – but a Saviour, with the power to forgive.'
as we celebrate the ninetieth birthday of Her Majesty the Queen,
receive our heartfelt thanks
for all that you have given her in these ninety years
and for all that she has given to her people.
Continue, we pray, your loving purposes in her,
and as you gather us together in celebration,
unite us also in love and service to one another;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
