A vocal training workshop for people who speak, read or lead prayers in church.
When the Bible is read with meaning and confidence, or when prayers are led with calmness and clarity, the whole church listens intently.
We love to share the privilege of up-front ministry at St Mary's.
You'll hear a wide range of accents and styles and each week we hear from men and women, young and old, who read the scriptures or lead us in prayer with passion and encouragement. But even experienced speakers can develop their skills.
So we're running an workshop for everyone involved in this ministry and for those who are interested to learn more.
Sara Hyde, is an acclaimed campaigner and activist, who has advocated and initiated change in policy.
She has worked in the criminal justice system and with women ex-offenders . Sara is also a theatre maker and has spoken at TED Talks and the Greenbelt Festival.
Our vicar, Simon Harvey, will be working with Sara and helping us to understand the power of our voice in the service of God, even if we feel that we are feeble and frail.
This workshop is free to regular members of St Mary Islington. Depending on demand, a limited number of spaces may be available to people who are not members of our church. Please contact Simon Harvey or Anita Sunraj to reserve a place.
