Church weekend Away

"The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which someone found and hid; then in his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field."
Matthew 13.44

This autumn, we are heading off together to enjoy some time away, have fun and receive refreshment and new perspectives from God to help us in our daily lives. Whether you are new to St Mary’s or have been around for decades, you are warmly invited to join us.

Where?
High Leigh Conference Centre, Lord Street, Hoddesdon, Herts EN11 8SG. High Leigh is set in 40 acres of gardens and woodland. More information and directions can be found at: http://www.cct.org.uk/high-leigh/introduction
The fast train from Tottenham Hale or Seven Sisters to Broxbourne (the nearest station) takes about 15 minutes and costs £8.00. Taxis from Broxbourne station to High Leigh cost £6.

Who?
We have invited Jon Kuhrt, executive director of West London Mission, to lead our learning sessions over the weekend. Jon has practical experience in working with homeless and marginalised people. He also facilitates training in applied theology and a range of community issues. He lived in Islington for some years, though now is to be found south of the river.
Jon Kuhrt writes a regular blog posts for Resistance and Renewal, an online forum about Faith, Transformation and Social Justice.

What?
Our theme for the weekend is: "BURIED TREASURE"
Jon writes: “Sometimes the best treasure is not obvious. All that glitters is not necessarily the most valuable - some of the most precious things are hidden or obscured from view. They require digging and discovering. As a Church community, what is the most precious resource we have? How does this treasure become hidden or obscured? And how can this treasure shape our mission into the communities we are part of?”

Children and Young People
There will be separate groups for both children and young people, and a volunteer crèche for babies during teaching sessions. On Saturday afternoon there are organised activity sessions for all young people.
As well as the teaching sessions there will be plenty of free time to enjoy the extensive gardens, relax in the conservatory or make use of the games room.
