Most of us can identify with the idea of a faith journey.
Over time, our awareness of God and our relationship with him can deepen and grow.
Confirmation is a moment on a journey. It's more like an important milestone than a final destination.
This session is open to anyone who wants to know more about confirmation. The service this year at St Mary's will be presided over by the Bishop of Stepney, The Rt Revd Adrian Newman, on Sunday 20 November.
There is no charge for any session on this course.
Further course dates:
Wednesday 19 October Preparation Session 2 (7.30pm-8.30pm in the crypt)
The first of two preparation sessions. We’ll be looking at the relationship between confirmation and baptism and how it’s been used in the church. We’ll explore the confirmation prayer at the heart of the service and learning more about God’s Holy Spirit.
Wednesday 9 November Preparation Session 3 (7.30pm-8.30pm in the crypt)
The second of two preparation sessions. We’ll be looking at the Church – both the local church that we belong to, the Church of England and the worldwide Church of Jesus. We’ll be learning about the way that confirmation incorporates us into a community that’s bigger than ourselves, and explore Holy Communion.
Saturday 19 November Rehearsal (5.30pm-7.00pm in the church)
This is a practical session. We’ll look at the detail of the confirmation service.
