The Bishop of London has announced the revival of the See of Islington.
This paves the way for a new Bishop of Islington.
Unlike diocesan bishops and area bishops, the Bishop of Islington's responsibilities won't be defined by a particular place. Islington's parishes and clergy remain under the oversight of the Bishop of Stepney.
Instead, the Bishop of Islington will have a role in the national church, drawing on the capital's experience and enabling other dioceses to replicate the kind of growth that the Church of England in London has seen for two decades.
We don't know when the appointment of the Bishop of Islington will be announced but look forward to working with him or her to ensure that the very best models of healthy church growth are shared more widely.
