Our partners at St Mary Islington Community Partnership have appointed Rebecca Mills (above) in a brand new role as Youth Development Manager. It's a great move for St Mary's Youth Club, which has previously seen wonderful work done by Nick Adams, former Senior Youth Worker.

The Community Partnership plans to revitalise its youth work set-up and is really keen to extend the reach of its services to the community. Many things have changed in the way that youth services are commissioned and Rebecca's appointment sets up the club for a great future.

Rebecca will be working with young people to develop a vision for how to take the youth group forward, but already has big plans. These include the creation of youth-led enterprise projects that support young people to develop their own business ideas and a comprehensive and varied after school club. The Community Partnership has already begun to expand its current holiday play scheme across the community, making it available for a wider age range and offering subsidised places for the most disadvantaged.

Rebecca has been working as Lead Youth Worker at a club in Bermondsey and is excited to be making this move to Islington. She says “I am looking forward to joining the team at St Mary’s. I have seen and heard lots of amazing things about the young people and I cannot wait to meet everyone and get to work on some more great things!”

We wish her a warm welcome to Islington.
