Women Bishops and the General Synod

The General Synod of the Church of England meets in London next week and will be considering arrangements to cater for those opposed to the appointment of women bishops.

We're keen to see women being enabled to take responsibility in all parts of the church. We believe that the Holy Spirit gifts women as well as men for leadership in the church. This isn't just an idea, or a cause; we've experienced this ourselves in our own church. We look forward to the day, which we hope will be soon, when women are given the full authority that the office of bishop implies.

We're praying that the Synod debate will reflect God's calling to his Church to be generous, wise, compassionate and just.
