Marriage, Baptism and Confirmation

We're looking forward to a big weekend at St Mary's. On Saturday at 1pm, church members Prince Jim Ananga and Gloria Johnson will marry in church. On Sunday at 11am, ten adults will come for baptism and confirmation.

These three ceremonies - baptism, confirmation and marriage - are precious moments which signify that something eternally significant has happened. They all point to the change of relationships, not just to a change of status for an individual.

Prince Jim and Gloria will become husband and wife, as they make their vows to each other in the presence of God and before our church congregation. Those being baptised will declare their faith and their trust in Jesus Christ as their Saviour. Those being confirmed will be prayed for - by the whole church and by the Bishop of Stepney, who will pray for a deepening of the presence of the Holy Spirit in their lives.

Christians believe in God who is Father, Son and Holy Spirit, a Trinity of relationships that sweep up into their relating. There'll be celebrations in heaven as we celebrate on earth. We can't wait...
