Principal Services - February to April 2011 - Walking the walk

Faith is mostly practical action. Christians have used the period before Easter, called Lent, for reflection and preparation. But this kind of attentiveness must never be wholly inward-looking. Rather, personal discipleship and the life we share should lead us into a greater engagement in the world around us, not on our terms but on God’s.

“It's not that the church of God has a mission in the world, but rather that the God of mission has a church in the world.” (Mission Shaped Church, The Church of England 2004).
In the four weeks before Lent we’ll be exploring the implications of our recent focus on the Kingdom of Heaven. We’ll be exploring the vocation of the Church as an active community.

During Lent we return to issues of personal discipleship, and in Passiontide find ourselves walking the way of the Cross with Jesus.
